Welcome head of the department of molecular physics academician Leonid Anatolievich Ukraine Bulavina being awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology in 2011 for a series of scientific papers “Quantum effects and block self-organization in the new multifunctional nanomaterials.”
The cycle of scientific works consists of 3 books and 136 scientific articles published in refereed journals. His research is forming the core of the unique properties of new carbon nanomaterials: fullerite, carbon nanotubes, graphene.
Authors cycle includes several new world-class results, such as theoretical predictions of new effects in the conductivity of graphene; Observation negative thermal expansion of fullerite at low temperatures, indicating the nature of the tunnel rotational states of molecules C60; comprehensive study aggregation processes of fullerene clusters in water and other liquids; offer new molecular interface that the enzyme is immobilized on the carbon nanotube; establish that for composites based on nanotubes and liquid crystal matrix in an external electric field observed effect electro-optical memory, which is caused by self-organization.
It is proved that the sign and magnitude of roto-electric effect in films of C60 depends on the rotational state of the molecule driven by competition and the two types of disorder – static and dynamic. The theory of electron spectrum in intermetallic compounds and nano-composites taking into account the strong correlation carriers. Novel carbon-magnesium nanocomposites that can accumulate up to 5 wt.% Hydrogen, etc.
The results of the cycle not only enriched the basic science new knowledge, but also created a solid scientific basis for the practical use of new nanomaterials in nanotechnology, nanoelectronics, sensorytsi, solar energy, medicine and so on.
